Click... Defriended

When did "defriending" a friend - on Facebook become so common and acceptable?

If I have an issue with someone or an opinion about something I express it. I'm a pretty honest and upfront person; I don't like to be fake. Some have expressed how they don't appreciate these qualities about me... but I am who I am and I'm ok with who I am : )

It seems today if someone starts to dislike you in any way you run the risk of being "defriended" on Facebook. The person doing the "defriending" won't even let you know they have an issue with you - they just click on the button that says "unfriend." What happened to talking issues out? Being honest with each other and letting people know why you feel they are worthy of being "unfriended."

Solving problems this way just creates more issues. The great thing about communication is it gives you the opportunity to make resolution. When you click an "unfriend" button all you do is prolong an issue and hurt someones feelings. I find this new way of communication so odd...

It seems we now need an Emily Post etiquette guide for Facebook : )
